Masterclass speaker: Elias Williams

Job role: Content Creator and filmmaker, Creator of online platform for young men of colour.

Progression route: He started by taking academic subjects in his a-levels and politics for a year at university before changing courses to do media and filmmaking at Bristol university. He made short films in class and out of class with friends and used his university as his main source of networking. He then created his platform which he now runs as well as doing a Master’s in History which he says he’s using as a specialty subject.

What I’ve learnt:

• networking is everything
• create your own platform
• find a niche
• it’s easier to get started with people than on your own
• rejection is common- be ready to work anyways
• try everything
• Network through any and all the connections you have

Progression routes I’m now thinking of:

• University course
• Cables and Cameras events/ other networking events
• Cube cinema?
