1.1 Develop your current knowledge, understanding and skills
To begin, in terms of official qualifications, I have gained an AS in Films and a Media Production Diploma along with a Extended Diploma in the same course. My main hobby in my spare time mostly consists of consuming media like television and film. To be specific I have been particularly enjoying the resent rise of fantasy, like A Game Of Thrones. I also in my spare time try to plan and create documentaries to add to my youtube channel while also helping any friends with their productions.
My main passion is editing. To be more specific I’m adept at Adobe Premiere Pro and a beginner at After Effects. On set skills are sound/boom op, camera op, lighting and once in a blue moon acting. When it eventually comes to taking a role I would like be editing of course but also anything to do with sound on set due to wanting to gain a greater understanding for the audio.
The course I believe will offer me, will firstly be improving communication skills. It will be really important to get experience with being able to work with a complete group of strangers and being able to properly get points across and such. Secondly would be working on semi-professional like environment and learning what that involves in terms of how I present myself and doing my roll. Finally would be any of the role I’m given which will add to my level of experience on those roles in conjunction with the rest of the team.
Once I complete this course I have several pathways at my disposal. I could either further my education with University or applying for one the academies taking place over Easter (NFTS) attached to this course. I have been recommended to take the freelance root of being a runner and slowly build up a portfolio . though I have been told this a slow and hard root but I luckily have few contact due to trying this out in London for a month. Another very interesting but risky option I have is taking a scuba course and gaining masters in that in Cyprus (Family friend owns the business) and pursue underwater videography.

It’s positive that you have joined the academy to gain experience working in a crew and hopefully your communication skills will develop as a result of working in a team.
