1.3 Gain feedback on how you performed your role

1.4 Review your technical skills and use of equipment

I agree with all my feedback because I worked in collaboration with other members of the camera team very well, we worked well sharing the role of camera operator and helping each other if we needed help.

I think I worked well in this role because I camera operated the flat scene and there were multiple camera focuses that took a while to perfect, although I managed to get a really clear contrast of both characters.

My strengths in my role were being multifaceted and concentrated. I had many job roles in the production for this film (camera, BTS, hair and makeup, photography, acting) so therefore my challenges were to monitor my times and be prepared to change role. Overall, my main role was camera operator so therefore it required a lot of patience and practise, which I managed successfully.

Using a large film camera has allowed me to explore the technicalities of the settings and range of cinematography I could use for one simple shot. I’ve learnt how to pull focus without drawing attention from audience. Also doing hair and makeup was a good role because I learnt how to do male makeup.

My knowledge of film since joining BFI has increased massively because we all get a taster of what it’s like when creating a film and working together as a team. Also the masterclasses have taught me many things about the film industry and specific areas of film production.

I would like to expand my knowledge on camera operating and cinematography because that is the area of film production I would love to go into.
