Working relationships

3.1 Teamwork

Why is teamwork important in the film industry?

Teamwork is important in the film industry because:

  • It allows the productions creation to run efficiently
  • It builds stronger bonds towards team mates, which picks up moral
  • Allows jobs to me more fun and enjoyable.
  • Lightens loads of work for individuals, as its able to be spread out to others.

What can happen if if there isn’t good team work?

If there isn’t good teamwork then:

  • Relationships get damaged, leading to arguments and creating a negative work space.
  • miscommunication is created that means complications for the production, most commonly disrupting deadlines
  • individuals will be suffocated in work, which can lead to work related stress and disruption of deadlines and efficiency

3.2 Qualities needed to work well with others

Qualities i showed during the production

  • teamwork: When building the Incubus, i had be a team player to communicate with others when deciding on materials and how we were going to complete each task.
  • sharing ideas: When coming up with ideas for the productions overall design, i had to share many ideas in order to allow concept development, without this we would have no foundation for our ideas.
  • dedication: In order to make the Incubus a lot of hours had to go in to make sure we didn’t rush and make mistakes. This also meant keeping within deadlines, in order to do this i had to take the Incubus home to work on it, else we may of fallen behind schedule.
  • safe working: I had to use a variety of potentially dangerous tool (such as a hot glue gun) so i had to take extra precautions when handling them and also had to warn those around me of the potential dangers.

3.3 Working collaboratively on your film production

How did i work with others in the crew

I believe i worked with others the best i could, i thought i was helpful to my crew by offering a helping hand when i could, such as when it came to the construction of the incubus, moving furniture and props around for sets and offering to extend my job role to an extra. I also thought i was good at communicating with my crew as i tried to ask questions on our progress and what needed to be done.

Problems i needed to overcome

Problems such as meeting demands, making the Incubus meet the agreed design was tough as we had limited resources and materials. We had to figure out where and how we’d place our sets, as we had limited space. We had to figure out how the Incubus would feel comfortable and fit the actor, as they would need to wear it for long duration of time.

Alejandro you have demonstrated that you have achieved section 3 – be able to develop effective working relationships with film production team members. You worked particularly well with Jack making the Incubus helmet. This job came with a lot of responsibility as the helmet is such a pivotal part of the film. the final result was excellent!
