Working relationships

3.1 Teamwork

Teamwork is vital when working on a film production as each role requires input from others. communication from teamwork is important to obtaining tve best quality film that is achievable. without this communication and teamwork, elements of the film such as sound may not work with the visuals.

Whilst direction is important, input from all members of the crew regarding the film should be taken into consideration as some ideas may not have been previously thought about by the director.

Producing is also vital to the teamwork of the group. without this, timing may be off and crew members may not be in the right locations.

3.2 Qualities needed to work well with others

Tutor Observation:

Ability to collaborate with others in the production team:

Jade maintained effective communication throughout the course and contributed with great ideas to the production process. Her enthusiasm for film and photography is always a welcome addition to group discussions and she seems to have enjoyed her time at the academy.

Jade had effective interactions with all the members of the production team. She always acknowledged the contribution of others in a positive way. She asked questions when necessary and communicated well. She is creative and considerate person and this was an asset during all the stages of production.

Jade was engaged in the sessions she attended and proved herself to be a skilled and efficient member of the camera team.  She listened to mentors and responded well to advice, learning quickly and asking if she needed help.

Using initiative:

Jade used her initiative when thinking about creative shot ideas for the film, she seemed to have a clear idea of what images she thought would work with the story and of what shots she wanted to achieve. This was useful when it came to the shoot day and Jade seemed to have a very good instinct for shot composition and camera work. Molly is clearly a competent photographer and camera operator. She has contributed to the documentary film with some lovely imagery. Her contributions are always useful and valued by others in the team.

Timekeeping, Reliability and Safe Working:

Jade was a reliable and punctual member of the team. If she needed to miss a session she always informed us beforehand.

Jade used equipment sensibly, making sure not to create obstructions or work in an unsafe way. She attended the pre-shoot Health and Safety briefing, read and understood the Risk Assessment. As part of the camera team she effectively observed safe working practice. Along with her group Jade was diligent and aware when working with our contributor The entire crew were very respectful going into Jake’s home.

Coped with the pressures of working in “on set” environment:

Jade coped well in the “on set” environment remaining calm and focused, she was happy to pitch in where required. She also seemed to really enjoy her time in the camera department and coped with the pressure of needing to successfully film the desired shots. Jade remained focused and was  a pleasant and positive addition to the team.
