skills feedback and review

1.3 Gain feedback on how you performed your role

1.4 Review your technical skills and use of equipment

I agree with the feedback from Charlotte that I was focused and concentrating on my role.  I have worked a lot with stills photography and I learnt a lot about how to use the movie camera.  I worked as camera operator and shifted sometimes with Charlotte as cam assistant. There was some part of that it was a little bit difficult  it was something new for me and I haven’t had any knowledge of it that much but thanks that Louis, Charlotte, Bex, Ses and Max helped me a lot with it.

I think I carried out my role well on shoot, I was very unconfident as I haven’t worked with the movie camera before. The strips covered the numbers that go up when recording and the light at the front of the camera was too far away for me to see so I was a bit worried by that and I had to develop confidence that I was recording when the 1st AD called to run camera! I am now much more confident in cinematography and understanding how to record film.

My technical skills developed hugely through the production process –  As camera operator and working with Louie and charlotte i learnt how to focus the camera, which lenses to use for different focus distances and shot size, the differences between lenses, how to use lighting for mood and how to set up lights on set.  As camera assistant i learnt how to use the clapperboard, what to right on there for marking the next scene, how each set up and shot is prepared and called and how the crew work together on set.

I gained more information and learned loads of good stuff and helpful things during the production process. At the beginning of the course I did not know how the film production process worked. I have watched a lot of behind the scenes videos and watched interviews with filmmakers, I was also in a film as a young child. But taking part in the course taught me what filmmaking means in a practical sense and I understand loads more about the whole process and the roles that are needed to bring a film together.
